Certified Scrum Professional – Product Owner (CSP-PO) course is an advanced program combining independent assignments with a one-day live, instructor-led class. Students will expand their empirical product management and Agile thinking skillsets through applied practice. As the capstone credential in the Scrum Alliance Product Owner track, the CSP-PO also serves as a gateway to joining the Scrum Alliance Guide Community as a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST), Certified Team Coach (CTC), or Certified Enterprise Coach (CEC).

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, students will earn the Certified Scrum Professional – Product Owner (CSP-PO) certification as long as they:

  • Hold an active Advanced Product Owner (A-CSPO) certification with the Scrum Alliance.
  • Validate at least 24 months of work experience specific to the role of Product Owner (within the past five years).
  • Complete all course requirements.

This course is designed for experienced Product Owners and Agile coaches seeking to expand their understanding of Scrum product thinking and empirical product management. Students should have significant experience working in the role of Product Owner and exercising the core skills of that role, including establishing product vision and delivering product(s) in conversation with evolving marketplaces.

What You’ll Learn in CSP-PO Training

The one-day live training session includes hands-on exercises, demonstrations, facilitated discussions, games, and videos exploring topics such as:

  • Working with stakeholders
  • Outcome-focused prioritization of backlogs and portfolios
  • Utilizing empiricism to improve product outcomes
In addition to the live session, students will complete asynchronous assignments, with consultation and review from the trainer. While completing these assignments before the session is preferred, students have up to six months post-class to finish them if needed. Through the independent assignments, students will demonstrate their knowledge and understanding in four key areas critical to leading Agile product development:

  • Product development with Agile scaling frameworks
  • Starting new Scrum product teams
  • Building customer bases and testing customer assumptions
  • Product model economics
Students will also complete a Product Owner Self-Assessment to frame their professional development beyond the CSP-PO credential.
